The expression for bone mass derived in this example of the textbook is treated as a function of k. However, from the expression we obtained you can see that the mass of the bone also depends on the length L of the bone and its radius r.  The following animation illustrates how the mass and the dimensions of the bone change as you change each of these quantities. The yellow represents marrow in the centre of the bone.
